About Takitumu Tapas

The lively hum near the nightmarket provides a fitting backdrop for the experience at Takitumu Tapas. The evening air carries mixed aromas, hinting at smoked spices and fresh seafood that eventually make their way onto the table. Though the setting is informal, the attention to plating and presentation quietly elevates the meal. Some might find the seating a bit cramped during peak hours, which slightly tempers the otherwise relaxed rhythm of the dining experience. Amidst the ebb and flow of bustling patrons, there’s a tangible warmth that complements the food’s vibrant flavors.

Small plates invite shared exploration, and the menu reflects a creative blend of local ingredients with classic tapas influences. Dishes such as octopus with charred peppers or coconut-infused ceviche provide intriguing contrasts. These offerings showcase a balance between fresh, bright zest and deeper, smoky undertones. Browsing Takitumu Tapas’ photos online, the colorful presentation stands out, though the portion sizes might prompt a couple of rounds to satisfy larger appetites. Service is friendly and unhurried, though occasionally stretched thin, which is understandable in a popular spot that often draws visitors from varied backgrounds, as echoed in several reviews.

More than just a place for a quick meal, this restaurant invites reflection on the fusion of Pacific charm with Mediterranean casual dining. The background chatter and clinking glasses add to the convivial atmosphere, making it easy to lose track of time. Pricing skews toward the mid-range, offering reasonable value when considering the quality and distinctiveness of each dish. While not every item hits a perfect note, the cumulative experience creates a memorable dining chapter for those referencing Takitumu Tapas restaurant impressions during their culinary explorations.

Well deserved 5 star rating. Had the most tender tuna ever and everything else was super tasty too. Cash only.

Highly recommend coming here for their food - we came back at least twice and wanted to go more! The food is so tasty and comes out quickly.

Phenomenal! That's not a phrase I use lightly. I was recommended this place by a colleague and it didn't disappoint. Excellent staff, delicious food. We had the tasting platter like so many others. Our server was enthusiastic to walk us through it all. It was all delicious, we may well visit again before the end of our holiday. We went on a Wednesday evening (15th October 2025). Despite being mid week, they had an absolutely awesome singer with a beautiful voice. Generally, I would avoid somewhere with music as loud as it was; for easy dinner conversation. Our conversation become about how good the food and entertainment was. This wasn't just our own thoughts, very clearly many other patrons thought the same. People sat and waited to the end of his set before leaving. Many people left him tips. Of course, can't guarantee you'll get the same experience as we did. If not, the food and service will hopefully be just as good. 100% recommended 10/10

We had dinner here. BYO and enjoyed our litre bottle of Rarotonga Brewery lager! Had crispy fish tapas, seared tuna and prawn tacos. Backed up for a second lot of the prawn tacos, they were so good. Live music created a nice atmosphere. Happy and efficient service. Only regret - our stomachs couldn’t cope with more, as there were some other tempting dishes. Recommended.

10/10 - we got the tasting platter which was simply phenomenal. Great taste, textures & very well thought out. An absolute delight. We switched the pork tacos to tuna tacos & it was a superb tasting decision. We had live music too which added to the lovely warm relaxing atmosphere. The waiting staff were brilliant, despite the number of rude entitled elderly customers there. Don’t let that put you off though, it’s been the best food we’ve tasted and reasonable prices too. We will go back again for sure.

Awesome place, we got the tasting platter for two of us and the flavours were amazing and great value. Food came out quick even before I could pop across the road to get some BYO which was a bonus. A thunderstorm hit and everyone piled in under cover which was great as we met some more people :-)

We came here for lunch and had the seared tuna, the smoked fish crips and the fried chicken. Food was good overall with a nice combination of flavors and nicely presented. We really like the crips with the tropical sauce. The tuna itself didn’t taste much but the toppings and sauce went well with it. The fried chicken was juicy and the alioli was good. The staff was very nice too and the service fast but you can only pay with cash.

Beautiful people with genuine service, the kindness is real! We enjoyed the relaxed vibe with live music, and the tasting platter was delicious. I particularly liked the mushroom arancini, but everything was good.
